CERF-VOLANT SANS QUEUE is a production boat. Even so, it would be unfair to evaluate her like a commodity. Here is why…
Equipment: Equipped for long-term sailing and live-aboard, CERF-VOLANT has all amenities that make life aboard comfortable, including a generator, water maker, and heating. No A/C, for the owner believes artificially cool air ruins the nature experience.
Storage: There is room for equipment and toys (10 fenders, inflatable bathing platform, life-raft, RIB, industrial vacuum cleaner, electric air-pump, outboard engine) in the two cabin-sized cockpit compartments.
Crowd-control: The generous cockpit comfortably seats 8 for dinner, with room for 4 more on twin helmsman seats. The three-step companionway and the large windows surrounding the galley must be experienced to understand how the interior of the boat becomes one with the cockpit area.
Entertainment: If the star-ridden night sky and the milky way do not provide sufficient entertainment, the table in the main cabin can be lowered into a king-sized bed, strategically situated to watch a movie projected on the pull-down screen.
Little but important things: Ever tried to set the passerelle in a hurry? How about lowering the outboard engine on the RIB? Try this carbon, two-fold passerelle that weighs only 6 kg. And the electric e-propulsion outboard engine battery weighs only 9 kg.
CERF-VOLANT SANS QUEUE is available for sale from her first owner, a veteran solo sailor, who equipped her for solo sailing. All control lines lead aft, allowing both sails to be hoisted and fully controlled from the comfort of the cockpit. Three electric winches (2 main, 1 control) are supported by one manual winch (control), as a redundancy.
Sail hoisting, reduction and handling a breeze, even when double or single handed, are a breeze thanks to a simple sail plan comprising a furling 130% genoa and a full- batten main running on Harken tracks; three single line reefs on the mainsail; and outhaul, cunningham and boom-vang control lines being led directly to cockpit winches.
With a flat wide bottom, CERF-VOLANT SANS QUEUE efficiently planes on a reach and run, nut her upwind performance is nothing short of remarkable for her size and weight. She excels in weather between 15-25 knots, above which a simple reef on the mainsail will keep the performance going. The owner regularly recorded 12-15 knots boat speed in a reach, and 6-9 knots on a beat.
The bow has room for a code zero or an asymmetric gennaker, but neither is required for a satisfying sailing experience.
